July 15, 2002The Moran City Council met in special session on Monday, July 15, 2002. President of the Council James Mueller called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Councilmembers present were Mike Holman, Jerry Wallis, Warren Johnson, and Chryll Ginn. Also present were Lori Evans, City Clerk and Phil Jarred of Diehl, Banwart, Bolton, and Jarred.
2003 BUDGET PREPARATION - PHIL JARREDMr. Jarred presented the pro-posed budget for 2003. He noted a transfer from the electric fund would be required to help preserve the general fund unless the Council chose to increase property taxes. Discussion followed with Councilmember Ginn moving to publish the budget as submitted and to hold a public hearing regarding the adoption of the budget on August 5, 2002, at 7:00 PM. Wallis seconded the motion, motion passed with all approving.
APPLICATIONS FOR ASSISTANT CITY CLERKThe Council reviewed applicants for assistant city clerk position and agreed to hold a special meeting to interview applicants at 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 1st. Applicants selected for an initial interview are: Lesa Cole, Mary Daniels, Lynn Heskett, and Deborah Wagner.
PERMIT FOR HIGHWAY ACCESSThe Council reviewed a request from Bill McAdam asking the City to submit a permit for highway access to the Kansas Department of Transportation for modification of Spruce Street at the intersection of Highway 54. Following discussion, Councilmember Johnson moved to deny the request. Holman seconded the motion, motion passed with all approving.
ADJOURNMENTCouncilman Wallis moved the meeting adjourn at 8:08 PM. Holman seconded the motion, motion passed with unanimous approval.
